About this destination
Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park is one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations and is famous for its vast open grasslands, abundant wildlife, and the spectacular Great Migration. The park provides exceptional opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and numerous other species.
Ngorongoro Crater
The Ngorongoro Crater is a spectacular natural wonder and one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife areas. Its enclosed ecosystem supports an impressive concentration of animals, making it an excellent destination for game viewing. Visitors may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, flamingos, and, with some luck, the endangered black rhino.
Together, Serengeti and Ngorongoro create an unforgettable introduction to Tanzania's world-class safari experience.
Best time to visit
Tanzania can be visited throughout the year, with different seasons offering different safari experiences.
June to October is generally considered one of the best periods for wildlife viewing because of the dry weather and excellent visibility. It is also a popular period for experiencing parts of the Great Migration.
November to February offers greener landscapes, pleasant temperatures, and excellent wildlife viewing, while the Serengeti is an important area for the wildebeest calving season.
March to May is the main rainy season. The landscapes are beautifully green and there are fewer visitors, although some roads and safari conditions can be more challenging.
The best time ultimately depends on your preferred wildlife experiences, weather, and travel dates.
Getting there
This safari begins in Arusha, Tanzania, which serves as one of the country's main gateways to the northern safari circuit.
Guests can reach Arusha through Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK). From Arusha, the safari continues by private 4x4 safari vehicle toward Serengeti National Park.
The journey to Serengeti involves several hours of road travel, but the changing scenery and wildlife along the route form part of the safari experience. After exploring Serengeti, you will continue toward the Ngorongoro area before returning to Arusha at the end of the safari.
Airport transfers and additional pre- or post-safari accommodation can be arranged upon request.
